Vegetarian & Vegan Friendly Probiotic Supplement Review

Today we are reviewing one of the newest probiotic supplements available, OpenDoors Nutrition Daily Pro Blend 12B, which claims it has been carefully manufactured for vegetarians and vegans. Any vegetarian or vegan knows that these label claims are not always true. Often nutrition labels will contain ingredients like magnesium stearate or gelatin capsules which don’t always come from animal-free sources. Another common issue probiotics is that they are often grown on a dairy medium which for vegans is a real issue. This review looks at Daily Pro Blend 12B for the accuracy of their label claims and for the efficacy of their probiotic supplement.

Daily_Pro_Blend_12B_3_10Magnesium stearate is an additive used in the manufacturing of many dietary supplements. It’s a filler that prevents the ingredients from sticking to the equipment that is used during the encapsulation process. There are ways to manufacture supplements without the use of magnesium stearate but it is a more expensive process. The issue that arises for vegetarians and vegans is that magnesium stearate can be sourced from both animal and vegetable oils. To ensure the probiotic supplement is either labeled “vegetable magnesium stearate” or lists that it doesn’t use magnesium stearate at all. The latter is the case with OpenDoors Nutrition’s Daily Pro Blend 12B. In addition to listing no magnesium stearate on the label it also states it contains no wheat, eggs, yeast, soy, sugar, salt, malodextrin, artificial flavors, or preservatives.

Another common problem vegetarians and vegans encounter is that dietary capsules are sourced from animal byproducts. This is very common with gelatin capsules so anytime it is listed under other ingredients it should immediately throw up a red flag. These capsules can be made from pork, cow and horse hoofs, boiled bones, skins, and tendons of animals. Many experts advise against using animal-derived supplements like gelatin but as previously stated many companies do this because it is cheaper to manufacture in this method. OpenDoors Nutrition only uses vegetarian capsules in all their products and this includes their daily probiotic supplement. In fact the veggie capsules used for their Daily Pro Blend 12B are specifically formulated to be time delayed in order to protect the probiotics from stomach acids until it reaches the intestines. This ensures that the probiotics are delivered alive to confer the greatest health benefit to the user.

Not always a concern for vegetarians but almost all probiotic strains are grown on a dairy medium. Unfortunately, this eliminates about 99% of the probiotic market for vegans. Not only is Daily Pro Blend 12B dairy free but also it has been Kosher certified. Health Nutrition News was thoroughly impressed with the label claims from OpenDoors Nutrition so they purchased a bottle to see if it would meet expectations or fall short for efficacy.
The probiotic boasts twelve billion CFU’s (colony forming units) per serving and only requires one capsule a day. Many other probiotic supplements that Health Nutrition News have tried require two or more capsules to deliver the same CFU’s. Two other features that stood out were the addition of prebiotics to the probiotic and the use of Active-Polymer ™ moisture absorbing bottles. Anyways, all this is meaningless if the probiotics arriveProbiotic_Milk_test dead. It was a concern that the shipment arrived without an ice pack as most probiotics require refrigeration but OpenDoors Nutrition guaranteed that their supplement would be alive. In fact, they recommended that one of their capsules be placed in a warm bowl of milk to prove the probiotics arrived active. Live probiotic strains will react in milk and cause either curdling or another sign of bacterial activity. This product curdled within a few hours and verified that the probiotic strains were indeed alive.

As mentioned earlier this vegetarian and vegan friendly supplement combines prebiotics which act as food for the probiotics. Daily Pro Blend 12B contains two prebiotics to form a synbiotic relationship and give the probiotics the fuel they need to thrive. The prebiotic Sunfiber® acts as a regulating fiber and helps improve both conditions of constipation and diarrhea. 12 billion CFU’s of a proprietary blend of Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifidobacterium longum and two prebiotics in each serving make this a very high quality supplement.

Health Nutrition News considers this one of the best probiotic supplements available and not just for vegetarians and vegans but for anyone who is looking to restore their gut flora. Every time Daily Pro Blend 12B is manufactured and bottled the batch is lab tested and verified by both an onsite chemist and Silliker Labs, an independent third party testing facility. Backed by a one year money back guarantee this vegetarian and vegan friendly probiotic supplement is worth the price tag and each bottle contains sixty capsules to last buyers for two months.

Most Effective & Best Probiotic Supplements

Most Effective & Best Probiotic Supplements

Probiotics are “friendly bacteria” that occur naturally in the digestive tract. Certain strains or types of probiotics have been linked to all sorts of health benefits, from helping with irritable bowel syndrome, fatigue, constipation, gas, and bloating, to boosting the immune system all while accelerating fat loss. Unfortunately, due to lifestyle and environmental factors many people suffer from a probiotic “good bacteria” deficiency. At the end of the video we’ll share a free ebook with a list of the best health restoring foods that contain probiotics.

Neglecting your gastrointestinal health puts the body at a heightened risk for the health problems mentioned earlier. You see: within your gut reside roughly 100 TRILLION living bacteria… and maintaining the ideal ratio of “good bacteria” (known as probiotics) to “bad bacteria” is now gaining recognition as perhaps the single most important step you can take to protect your health and further along your fat loss goals. In order to reap the full benefits of taking probiotics, experts recommend taking a probiotic supplement for a minimum of two weeks — try it and see if you notice a difference!

When looking for a complete probiotic supplement nutritionists suggest making sure it contains these three specific strains of probiotics Bacillus Subtilis, Lactobacillus salivarius, and S. boulardii. Each has its own specific benefit to overall gut health, weight loss, and improved overall health. Anything that also contains Actazin delivers an added bonus because this super nutrient significantly assists probiotics. Lastly, make sure that your probiotic supplement has a method to ensure that the probiotic strands arrive at your gut alive. It is common for many supplements to deliver dead probiotics and these are useless. Otherwise you are buying a product that is virtually useless.

It is most important to consider that the food or supplements deliver adequate numbers of useful probiotics for your needs. By following the link on the screen now you can get free instant access to that e-book with the best health restoring probiotic foods as well as where you can find a probiotic supplement that delivers good bacteria effectively.

Best Protein Powder for Women and Weight Loss

Best Protein Powder for Women and Weight Loss

Best protein powder for women and weight loss review

We get that most women are trying to lose weight rather than gain muscle. However, finding the best protein powder for weight loss can be very difficult since they come in a variety of flavors, with different ingredients, and different purposes. We are going to discuss what to look for if your goal is to lose body fat and why a lean protein powder that is a whey/casein blend, has fewer carbohydrates, and contains no artificial sweeteners is best.

Losing weight comes down to a mixture of nutrition, exercise and a balanced lifestyle. Regardless of your situation, age or gender we all need protein. protein powderProtein is essential in any weight-loss program powders can be used to help achieve your goals. Shakes are a safe way to ensure the body gets enough protein, when used as part of a balanced, nutrient-rich diet. The two most popular types of protein are whey, which rapidly increase amino-acid synthesis, and casein, a slower digesting compound that prevents the amino acids from breaking down. While they can be found individually in many products it is highly recommended a mixture of both is ideal for weight loss results. However, if you are going to add a protein powder into a diet read the nutrition label first to see just how many carbohydrates contains.

The body spends more energy processing protein than carbs and the body burns more calories as a result. Powders can range from 100% protein to mostly carbohydrates with a little added protein and fat. When a supplement is loaded with either carbohydrates or fats, they do little to improve the body’s metabolism and can cause weight loss plateaus. Furthermore, when using a powder that contains high-quality in a shake as an occasional meal replacement may help women lose more weight and fat than they would by following a reduced-calorie diet. It is also very important to make sure no artificial sweeteners, colors, or flavors are added into a powder blend.

Many protein powders contain lots of added sugar for flavor, which increases the total calorie count, and can be fairly high calorie even without a lot of extra sugar meaning no weight loss results. Chocolate and Vanilla proteins are two of the most common flavors that DO NOT require additional sweeteners. Ideally, women looking to lose weight would choose a low calorie, gluten free, and all natural weight loss protein.

Additionally, one containing no artificial sweeteners, low carbohydrates, and tasting great would help achieve their dieting goals. Lastly, only consider a protein supplement that contains the important enzyme blend called ProHydrolase (Pro-Hydro-Lace) which doubles protein absorption in the body. ProHydrolase® is a patented blend of specialized enzymes designed to dramatically enhance the ability of the body to break down, absorb, and utilize whey protein.

We have put together a free e-book that contains a suggested diet plan to follow when looking to achieve the quickest weight loss results.

Natural Anti-Inflammatory Diet Foods to Relieve Toxic Inflammation

Natural Anti-Inflammatory Diet Foods to Relieve Toxic Inflammation

Inflammation is part of the body’s immune response; without it, we can’t heal. But when it’s out of control it can damage the body. Also, it is becoming increasingly clear that inflammation is the root cause of stiff and painful joints, lack of mental focus, skin problems like eczema or acne, and/or an inability to lose weight. When people suffer from toxic inflammation overload it infiltrates, disrupts, and eventually destroys virtually every cell in the body including the cells of the heart, brain, blood, joints, muscles, hormones, organs, skin, and causes illnesses.

Learning how specific foods influence the inflammatory process is the best strategy for containing it and reducing inflammation risks. First, the foods that contribute to TopAntiInflammatoryFoodsinflammation need to be either eliminated from a diet or limited. Number-one on the list of offenders would be trans fats — hydrogenated oils. Second would be the sugars, refined carbohydrates, and gluten-containing foods that cause a serious toxic inflammation overload. We understand certain foods, preservatives, and additives are well hidden in processed convenience foods, making them very difficult to avoid but they can spike inflammation. These foods causes over activity in the immune system, which leads to the health conditions mentioned earlier. On the other hand know what foods may curb inflammation and adding these items to a diet is just as beneficial.

Eating lots of fruits, vegetables, and seafood will provide the body with fiber and natural anti-inflammatory omega-3’s. Also include small handfuls of nuts and seeds in daily diets, especially walnuts and freshly ground flaxseed, to provide the body with essential fatty acids EPA & DHA. But because omega–3 fatty acids are in short supply in modern practices we have found omega–3 krill oil supplements to be most helpful to re-balancing a diet. This is one of the simplest, safest, yet most effective steps a person can take to suppress chronic inflammation in the body.

Anything that fits into a heart-healthy diet is also good for inflammation—and that includes healthy, plant-based fats like olive oil. Health Nutrition News has made available free for a limited time a report titled the 15 Foods That Damage Your Heart. Follow the link below to download today and get more information on the best and worst foods for combating inflammation and a great daily omega-3 krill oil supplement.

BioTRUST’s OmegaKrill 5x Krill Oil Supplement Reviewed

BioTRUST’s OmegaKrill 5x Krill Oil Supplement Reviewed
We review a new dietary supplement from BioTRUST called OmegaKrill 5x which combines both fish oil and krill oil to provide the body with the beneficial omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA.
A new source of omega-3 fatty acids in BioTRUST’s OmegaKrill 5x. Krill oils provide the body with the necessary supplementation to ward off inflammation, slowed metabolism, weight gain, and premature aging. In lieu of this, health authorities are recommending people increase their intake of Omega-3’s daily in order to correct the dietary imbalance causing these issues. Specifically in the form of the anti-inflammatory Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA.

Researchers at Health Nutrition News show DHA to be the king of Omega-3 fatty acids, providing many health benefits including increased eye health, belly-fat burning, reduced inflammation, and greater brain and cognitive health. Loaded with both of the essential fatty acids, DHA and EPA, BioTrust’s OmegaKrill 5X™ additionally includes many other unique benefits.

krillOmegaKrill contains more than 2000mg of EPA/DHA daily, which is the amount research shows to be effective for combating inflammation and providing the additional health benefits mentioned earlier. Health Nutrition News notes that most other fish oil and krill oil supplements only provide a couple hundred milligrams of EPA/DHA per serving, or ten times less than this omega-3 fatty acid. Additionally, OmegaKrill 5X uses the triglyceride form of fish oil, the same form that naturally occurs in fish, and this immediately increases absorption by 300% compared with other omega 3 sources. Not only does this lead to improved health benefits but also OmegaKrill is sourced from the cleanest fish to eliminate contaminants.

The experts from Health Nutrition News conclude the purity of OmegaKrill 5X™ is second to none. This is due to both the fish and krill used to produce it being wild-harvested in a sustainable manner from the cleanest waters on earth, the coasts of Peru and the Antarctic Ocean respectively. This ensures the lowest achievable levels of contaminants and then a low-temperature process further removes any and all potential contaminants, resulting in a totally pure and clean final product.

Simply put, with research suggesting that Omega-3 supplementation is even more important to health than taking a daily multi-vitamin and people would benefit from adding an omega-3 source to their daily regime. People are fighting a daily battle against an omega imbalance which is causing many health issues. To more information about the lifestyle, diet, and environmental factors causing this imbalance and how a supplement such as BioTRUST’s OmegaKrill 5x can restore health grab a copy of their free report titled “15 Foods That Damage Your Heart” The Link is Available Below:Heart_Damage_Call_to_Action

Count Macronutrients Instead of Calories for a Flat Stomach

Count Macronutrients Instead of Calories for a Flat Stomach

While counting calories may be more accurate than simply “watching what you eat”, it certainly can become a cumbersome chore each day.  Beyond that, the results you achieve are much more related to the types of foods you eat than calories alone, which makes the below superior (and more convenient) “counting” method our go-to technique for accurately and ideally determining the amount of food you should eat each day to support your body transformation goals.

The rule?  Count macronutrients, not calories.

There are 3 macronutrients (protein, carbs, and fat), and a good balance of all 3 of these nutrients is essential to dropping flab and optimally changing your body.

Even more, when counting macronutrients you no longer have to count calories as each gram of each macronutrient has a set caloric value.

Carbs are 4 calories per gram, Proteins are 4 calories per gram,  and Fats are 9 calories per gram.

So, by determining the appropriate number of grams of each macronutrient that should be eaten daily, dieters will automatically be controlling calorie intake at the same time.

In order to figure out the amount of each macronutrient that should be consumed each day use the following macronutrient calculator

First, multiply body weight by 10 to obtain the total daily calorie intake goal.

For example, a person weighing 180 pounds would set a daily goal of calorie intake of 1800.

Next, break down those 1800 calories into a ratio of 40% protein, 30% carbs, and 30% fat.

Because protein is the most metabolic nutrient, the foundation of our fat-burning diet is built around it.  Likewise, both carbs and fat offer unique benefits (energy from carbs and hormonal support from healthy fats), so a 40/30/30 make up gives a great balance of each.

Now, figure out how many grams of each macronutrient to eat.

To figure out protein intake, take the daily calorie goal of 1800 calories and multiply it by 40% since 40% of calorie intake will be from protein.  That gives 720 calories from protein.  Now, since protein is 4 calories per gram, divide those 720 calories by 4 to get the daily gram goal for protein.

720 / 4 = 180.

So the goal each day is to eat 180g of protein.  Simple enough.

Now, repeat this process for carbs and fat.

For carbs, 1800 x 30% = 540 calories from carbs.  540 divided by 4 calories per gram equals 135g of carbs daily, for fat, 1800 x 30% = 540 calories from fat.  540 divided by 9 calories per gram for fat equals 60 grams of fat.

So, in the example, a 180 pound individual would need 180g of protein, 135g of carbs, and 60g of fat daily to ideally support their fat-loss and body transformation goals.

Why Count Macronutrients

Counting macronutrients trumps counting calories as it ensures the body is getting a balance of each major nutrient.  If only counting calories, a diet could actually be very imbalanced.  Eating 1800 calories of M&Ms each day a dieter would reach their calorie goal, but the body wouldn’t be too pleased with empty calories

Counting macronutrients also has dieters working with smaller numbers, so it tends to be less to manage when already having a million other things on the mind.  Just take a look at the protein, carb, and fat totals of the foods eaten, jot them down (use an iPhone, pad, or anything else) and strive to come within 5% of the daily goals for each macronutrient at the end of the day.

Weight watchers often  find themselves  “eating healthy” without seeing the results they deserve,  and it may be time to start counting macronutrients, as it is both the most accurate and most convenient way to hit target macronutrient numbers and transform the body, quickly and efficiently.

Obesity and Weight Gain Caused by These Everyday Factors

Obesity and Weight Gain Caused by These Everyday Factors

Unfortunately, many people think of their gut solely as the mechanism by which the body digests food, which is at best an extreme oversimplification, and at worst an ideology massively contributing to the health problems, weight loss struggles, and auto-immune disorders of millions world-wide.

In reality, the GI tract is MUCH more than a digestion center; in fact, it is quite literally the body’s second brain as well as being “home” to 80% of the immune system.

ProbioticWithin the gut resides roughly 100 TRILLION living bacteria…

That’s more than 10 times the number of cells the entire body has – and maintaining the ideal ratio of “good bacteria” (known as probiotics) to “bad bacteria” is now gaining recognition as perhaps the single most important step a person can take to protect their health and further along fat loss goals.

In fact, there are more than 200 studies linking inadequate probiotic levels to more than 170 different negative health issues, including obesity and weight gain.

To touch briefly on the weight gain and obesity consequences, virtually every study performed on the obese population analyzing gut bacteria found higher instances of “bad” bacteria and lower levels of probiotics (again, the “good” bacteria) within these individuals.

Signs of Unbalanced Gut Bacteria

Some of the more advanced signs that the intestinal bacterial balance is beginning to spin out of control, such as:

• Gas and bloating
• Constipation and/or diarrhea
• Acid reflux
• Skin problems
• Overall sickness
• Headaches
• Urinary tract infections
• Trouble sleeping
• An inability to lose weight
• Sugar cravings, especially for heavily refined carbs
The ideal healthy ratio of “good” to “bad” bacteria is 85% to 15%, or 9 to 1.

Unfortunately, due to lifestyle and environmental factors, the vast majority of the population is severely lacking when it comes to good probiotic bacteria, throwing their gut flora ratio completely out of whack.

Everday Factors that Cause Obesity and Weight Gain

These lifestyle and environmental factors include, but are not limited to, exposure to:
• Sugar
• Artificial sweeteners of any kind (found in “diet” beverages and food items, chewing gum, and even toothpaste)Sugar
• Processed foods
• Chlorinated water
• Pollution
• Antacids
• Laxatives
• Alcoholic beverages
• Agricultural chemicals and pesticides, and…
• Antibiotics (from medications and/or antibiotics found in meat and dairy products that we ingest).
Unless someone maintains a 100% organic diet, completely void of all sugar, and lock themselves in the house in an attempt to only consume the purest of air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it is almost certain that a person’s gut flora balance is suffering, and will continue to suffer, unless something is done to proactively correct it on a daily basis.
If people continue to neglect their gastrointestinal health the likely result is dramatically increased risk for health problems and disease, failure to experience relief from any ailments, and an inevitable, continual struggle with obesity and weight gain.
With that said, it’s no wonder that research is now suggesting that supplementing with probiotics every single day is even MORE important to health than taking a daily multi-vitamin.
gi healthEven more, a recent double blind study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that test subjects who received probiotics daily were able to reduce their abdominal fat by nearly 5 percent over a 12 week period, while the “no probiotic” group experienced no positive changes.
Simply put, with research suggesting that probiotic supplementation is even more important to health than taking a daily multi-vitamin, and the fact that inadequate probiotic levels have been linked through research to more than 170 different diseases and health issues, including obesity and weight gain, everyone should be taking a probiotic daily. There are other options to balance gut bacteria in order to lose weight and battle obesity. To read more here’s a free PDF that will help with obesity and cleanse the gut.
